Mrs. Stella M. Cieslak, 94, of La Porte, died at 9:45 a.m. on March 16, 2010 in La Porte.
Mrs. Cieslak was born Sept. 17, 1915 in Collier, Pa., to Joseph and Antionette (Schubert) Kowal.
On Jan. 24, 1935, in Gary, Ind., she married Aloysius J. Cieslak who preceded her on Jan. 14, 1981.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
She retired from ZAYRE Corporation as Head Cashier of the Finance Department and formerly worked at Bear Corp. in
Gary, Ind. She was a former member of the St. Peter Catholic Rosary Society, a 25-year member of the La Porte Hospital Auxiliary and former president of Bishop Noll High School Mothers Club. She leaves behind two daughters, Eloise (Joseph) Janostak of Highland, Ind., and Beverly (Jim) Welborne of La Porte, 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one sister, Ann Neid of Knox, Ind., and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded by her parents, her husband, Aloysius J. Cieslak, one son, Anthony Cieslak, one daughter, Joyce Nolan, two grandchildren, two brothers,
John Kowal and Louis Koval, three sisters, Helen Kowal, Sophie Rogers and Nellie Lazar.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 19, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph Angotti officiating.
A Prayer Service will be held Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 6 p.m.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 3 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Essling Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Portage, Ind., following the luncheon.
Arrangements are being handled by Essling Funeral Home.
